As I have maintained for some time now, given that Corby is a rapidly expanding town, I believe we need more fire cover, not less. To my mind, the introduction of the new Cobra Intervention Vehicle, should not be at the expense of existing provision - it should be in addition, to provide a further option for our local firefighters, when responding to calls.
Indeed, postcards are going out across Corby at the moment and I would urge all those who agree with me, to return it, freepost.
With all this in mind, today, I submitted my formal response to Northamptonshire County Council's 'Community Protection Plan' consultation - you can find this below.
Going forward, local residents can rest assured that I will continue to campaign for common sense and more fire cover for our area - I very much hope that local politicians on all sides, can come together to support this end and agree a solution. Ultimately, local people don't care which pot of funding it comes from - rightly, they just want it sorted out.
