I was pleased to be informed by Rebecca Pow MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, that the Rockingham Forest Trust has been awarded £128,400 for its project entitled Natureworks. The project will work to improve the biodiversity and resilience of Stanwick Lakes in the Nene Valley. The £80 million Green Recovery Challenge Fund is kick-starting a pipeline of nature-based projects to restore nature, tackle climate change and connect people with the natural environment. Following the success of this first round of funding allocation, the Government has confirmed that it will double the size of the fund by making an additional £40 million investment. Round 2 will be launched in early 2021. Great news for our local area!
