It’s really good news that Northamptonshire is set to receive a further £1,332,850 to boost cycling and walking infrastructure in the county. The Active Travel Fund is designed to create safe space for cycling and walking and is part of the Government’s wider £2 billion investment in this area. The money will be provided to the local council and could be used to fund initiatives such as ‘School Streets’, ‘Low Traffic Neighbourhoods’ and segregated cycle lanes. More than ever it’s important that people are considering the best way to travel and also focusing on improving our health and the environment in the long-term, by making efforts to be more active wherever possible. I shall certainly be pressing for Corby & East Northamptonshire’s fair share!
