Following an earlier completely erroneous question, I made the point that the Government are currently making millions of pounds extra available for the NHS, and that all EU nationals who are currently here are welcome to stay - indeed, the Government’s policy on this is clear. I therefore asked the Secretary of State for Scotland to confirm this, as well as the fact that, in the future, we will be able to have an immigration system that treats people equally, regardless of where they come from in the world - something I would argue is common sense and a huge advantage of ending EU free-movement. The Minister agreed with me and went on to say that his Department is working to make Scotland an attractive place to come to. In particular, he said that if we want doctors and senior health service professionals to come to Scotland, we should not be taxing them significantly more than they would be paying in other parts of the UK; a policy the SNP Government in Scotland is pursuing.
