I was very relieved to hear that the horses that had been abandoned and left in squalid conditions in Wellingborough and towards the edge of Irthlingborough have been saved and moved to rescue centres, having been contacted by a number of constituents about this and having pressed the RSPCA in particular for action. This is a really important issue, given the suffering that was a cause of concern for so many of us, and credit must go to the local group set up to campaign on this, and to my neighbouring colleague, Peter Bone MP, for their leadership in resolving this – whilst swifter action by the authorities would have been far preferable, I hope that the horses find caring homes in the future, because they deserve to be looked after and cared for.
