The students I met with at Manor School in Raunds were hugely impressive and engaging when I met with them to talk about the very important topic of mental health recently. Students spanning a range of year groups very eloquently set out the ways in which they would like their school to be a pilot for a scheme to help best support students, building on the existing efforts at the school which have been making a difference for some time, and to hear about their recent meeting with England footballer, Harry Kane, on this very issue. I am keen to assist them in highlighting their campaign to the Secretary of State for Education, which I have undertaken to do in partnership with the students, to help them ensure their calls reach her desk. It was also a valuable opportunity to meet Dr Louise Newman, the new Principal at the school, and a chance to talk through the ongoing work to further improve outcomes and the learning experience for all, as well as the need to reflect on recent feedback from parents as part of that work, which I have been assisting some in raising.
