It was great to be back at Kirby Hall in Gretton recently to have a look around this beautiful Elizabethan property, on which construction began in 1570 and which King James I was known to frequent! We are incredibly fortunate to have this fantastic historical site right on our doorstep, amongst a collection of others across North Northamptonshire. It was interesting to hear from the brilliant English Heritage representatives that work so hard to maintain the property so that it can be enjoyed by visitors from all over, and to learn more about what English Heritage are doing to ensure that such sites can be enjoyed for generations to come. Kirby Hall is currently closed to visitors for the winter period, but will shortly be open again for people to enjoy - there is so much opportunity to use your imagination to fill the gaps and imagine what it would have been like to be in the presence of the King in such beautiful surrounds, with something for the whole family. Well worth a visit! You can check out their website, here: http://tinyurl.com/4pwknhdy.
