I was at the Despatch Box again before Parliament rose for recess to debate the Public Advocate Bill, a really important piece of proposed legislation that would establish a public advocate to provide advice to, and act as data-controller for, representatives of the deceased after major tragic incidents. We ran out of time in the debate at the end of what was a busy legislative Friday, but I know that this Bill commands a large amount of cross-party support and I pay tribute to the tireless work of campaigners in this area - they can rest assured that as I said in the brief time I had, I am looking very closely at this issue, with a view to making progress.
