I kicked off another busy Friday in the constituency by meeting with Mark Whitelocks, the Managing Director of Stagecoach Midlands, to discuss their local bus services operating here in Corby & East Northamptonshire. I was pleased to hear from Mr Whitelocks that productive talks are ongoing with North Northamptonshire Council in respect of potential changes to current local transport policy and route planning, with the ultimate aim of better serving customers moving forward, which I know would be welcomed by our rural communities in particular. Our conversation included the Corby to Kettering General Hospital service, which has been withdrawn recently. Given that a number of local people have raised this important bus route with me, I re-emphasised my strong support for its reinstatement and have written to North Northamptonshire Council too, following the meeting, urging that this happen. I will of course provide any updates as I have them. I was also able to raise the issue of the bus services running via Emerald Way in Irthlingborough, and the disruption impacting residents, which came up when knocking on doors in that area recently, and which I hope can be worked through and mitigated appropriately.
