Flooding can have a devastating impact on people’s lives and I know that some residents of Brigstock are all too aware of this from past experiences. I was, therefore, pleased to have a meeting last week in the village to find out more about the RAIN project, supported by North Northants Council and funded by the Government, which aims to support residents in preparing for the risk of flooding, whilst looking at innovative flood mitigation and prevention measures bespoke to the communities along Harper's Brook, including Great Oakley, Sudborough, Lowick and Stanion. This is a really innovative project, which I hope will make all the difference and I will be sure to share further updates on its work as I have them.
Indeed, it was wonderful to hear about their early project plans and Bake and Brew in Brigstock provided the perfect setting - and great coffee! I'm always pleased to champion local businesses and what better one than this, thriving out of lockdown and, I'm sure, will continue to in the years to come. A wonderful asset to Brigstock and well worth a visit!
