This week, I met with representatives from the Drive Project, talking about ‘Making Generation R’ - an incredible project that provides support and development for a great number of people. Our meeting was focused in particular on veterans and rehabilitation, as they work with BLESMA, the military charity for limbless veterans. The work they do together involves training veterans in how to tell their stories in the most impactful way, so that they can go into schools, youth clubs, corporate workplaces, etc, and share stories of their experience, and their resilience, often in the face of great adversity. Their stories are hugely inspiring, and go a long way to helping young people in particular to learn how to cope with their life experiences and the challenges life throws at us all. These are incredible charities - their work is vital, and I stand ready to support it in any way I can and I hope that local schools in particular will be keen to get involved.
