During a busy day out and about in the constituency, I was pleased to meet with a number of local organisations, including Corby Town Council, North Northamptonshire Council, and the Corby Branch of the Royal British Legion, where we opened discussions about an ambitious project to develop the Corby War Memorial for future generations, which I know is something local people feel very passionately about. Over the years, the National Lottery Heritage Fund has asked me to encourage local groups to apply for funding to help bring forward heritage projects locally and this seems to me to be a perfect fit, not least given the fact that we are seeing enormous and growing numbers of people wanting to participate in the act of Remembrance each year, particularly on Remembrance Sunday. I have therefore written to the National Lottery Heritage Fund to enquire about the possibility of accessing funding for this important local restoration project, and I look forward to continuing to work with local representatives, key organisations, and residents on this. I will of course post any updates as I have them.
