As part of the New Hospital Programme, backed by over £20 billion of additional funding, the Department of Health & Social Care have informed me that they remain fully committed to rebuilding Kettering General Hospital by 2030. By way of an update, given that I know how interested local people are about this, by the end of the 2022/23 financial year, the department has provided over £5 million to Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to help facilitate the development of business cases and programme teams, and the Full Building Case is currently underway. This is fantastic news, and it’s certainly pleasing to see movement on this, but I remain very keen to keep pushing, along with Philip Hollobone MP, to make sure this planned critical infrastructure upgrade is delivered as soon as possible. I also understand that of the 40 planned new hospital projects, Kettering General Hospital is the most advanced, which is especially positive given the rapid house building in our area in recent years and the need for our local hospital infrastructure to keep pace. It is only right that our local health landscape reflects this and that local people can always access the right care, in the right place, at the right time. Alongside this, we should also see the new Corby Community Diagnostic Centre at Cottingham Road come on stream later this year, that I was proud to campaign for, helping to further improve the patient experience - this will provide thousands of checks, tests and scans each year, helping to better access and reduce pressures on KGH.
