Road maintenance across Corby & East Northamptonshire is an issue that I’m very mindful of, and place real priority on. As such, I have been consistently pushing Ministers for additional funding to deliver greater meaningful improvements locally, as well as contacting North Northamptonshire Council (NNC) previously to see how this might be distributed to ensure the best long-term outcomes. I’m pleased then, that following the Prime Minister’s HS2 savings announcement last autumn, NNC are receiving considerable extra roads resurfacing funding – totalling £62,450,000 from 2023/24-2033/34 - something which I know will be particularly welcomed by people here in our area. You can read the full update that I have received from the Secretary of State for Transport, below, and I will be continuing to press NNC to ensure that Corby & East Northamptonshire receives its fair share of the extra funding pot so that repairs can begin to be carried out shortly and in a durable way. To help inform local prioritisation decisions, I would also urge residents concerned about particular potholes or road defects to report them on Street Doctor, which can be found at https://www.northnorthants.gov.uk/parking-roads-and-transport/report-po…, so that they can be properly investigated and repaired accordingly. Equally, as ever, I am very happy to raise any specific concerns on your behalf, as I have done consistently for people locally in the past – do drop me a line with the details!
