Having been actively campaigning for greater capacity and improved access to our local health services across Corby & East Northamptonshire, it was such good news when the Government announced its commitment to deliver the new Corby Community Diagnostic Centre at the Cottingham Road site. I therefore recently sought a substantive progress update ahead of walking the site soon, and was very pleased to hear from the Minister of State for Health & Secondary Care that ground-breaking site works will start in March, backed by over £13 million of capital funding for the new building, unlocking considerable new checks, scans and tests provision. This really is great news, and a positive step forward in delivering this major boost to NHS capacity locally; as the CDC will offer a range of centralised tests and clinical pathways, helping local people to access the services provided swiftly and conveniently, and thereby also helping to alleviate pressures on other local health services, including Kettering General Hospital. You can read the update, below.
