Every year, MPs welcome hundreds of school students to Parliament, and I always enjoy the opportunity to meet young people from Corby & East Northamptonshire, listen to their views, and answer their questions about my role as the local MP, and on local and national issues.
The usual format is a coach trip, arriving in London during the morning for a free walking tour of the Palace of Westminster. The best numbers are 10-30 on each visit and repeated tours from the same school are acceptable. Unfortunately, I am unable to meet travel costs.
Parliament offers educational workshops for school children and more information about these can be found here: https://www.parliament.uk/education/visit-parliament-with-your-school/.
There are often free educational exhibitions in Parliament too, details for which can be found at www.parliament.uk.
I am also always delighted to visit schools in the constituency to meet with groups of students to talk about my role. These visits are a good opportunity for students and teachers to talk to me about local and national issues, as well as for me to see the school at work.
I should also stress that tours need to be booked months in advance, but please contact me to enquire about a visit to Westminster, or if you would like me to visit your school. Please also see http://www.parliament.uk/education/visiting-parliament/ for more details.
