BookTrust ‘Time to Read Campaign’

This month, BookTrust is reaching over 700,000 reception aged children with a fantastic book and fun activities to enjoy and share at home as part of the ‘Time to Read’ campaign. We all recognise the importance of reading for a young person’s development and mental wellbeing.

It was good to catch up with Councillor Tom Beattie, the Leader of Corby Borough Council recently to discuss a number of matters, but in particular the transition to unitary authorities in Northamptonshire and the new money made available to Corby through the ‘Towns Fund’.

Bird conservation meeting with BASC at Deene Park

I was pleased to meet with the British Association for Shooting and Conservation at Deene Park recently and it was great to install a bird box on the estate, which I hope will help play its part in conserving and promoting the British bird population.

Government funding for Youth Works Northamptonshire:

I was delighted to hear from the Secretary of State for Health & Social Care that Youth Works Northamptonshire, based in Kettering, will receive a sum of £112,000 for the first year of a three-year award, for a project which is being delivered through the Department’s Health & Wellbeing F
