Shamima Begum, and the Home Secretary's decision:

On the case of Shamima Begum, I asked a question to the Home Secretary, highlighting the fact that in his role he must make difficult decisions such as this, based on information that he is simply unable to share in the public domain for intelligence and security reasons.

Visit to Thrapston Primary School:

I had a wonderful visit to Thrapston Primary School. I had the chance to answer questions from the school council, and then they gave me a tour of the school.

Visit to Fairline Yachts:

Last Friday, I met with David Tydeman from Fairline Yachts in Oundle. It was great to discuss how the business is doing, and have a really interesting tour around the boat yard and see some of the stunning craftsmanship for myself.

Letter to Lodge Park Academy:

In light of the recent Ofsted inspection of Lodge Park Academy, I have written to Robert Sloan, the Executive Principal at the school, to raise my concerns directly with him.

Reconsidering knife crime sentencing:

Worryingly, knife crime is rising, with a two-thirds increase from 2014 to 2018. I therefore asked Victoria Atkins MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Crime, Safeguarding and Vulnerability, whether the time has come to have a fresh look at sentencing for those caught carrying knives.

World Book Day 2019:

The 5th March was World Book Day! I attended an event in Parliament to offer my support for World Book Day’s national ‘Share a Story’ campaign, encouraging parents and carers to ‘share a story’ and read with their children for ten minutes a day.
