I signed the ‘UK Steel Charter’, alongside the Minister, Andrew Stephenson MP, who signed it on behalf of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. This follows the Welsh Government, who signed the Charter at an event at Tata Steel’s Shotton works last Thursday, and comes ahead of the Scottish Government, who will be signing it at an event next Wednesday at Liberty Steel’s Dalzell plant. A strong UK steel industry is critical in order to support other key strategic sectors in the UK, including automotive, construction, and engineering, as well as vitally providing industry and jobs here in Corby & East Northamptonshire. I am proud to have signed the ‘UK Steel Charter’ and to pledge my ongoing support to this vital industry. We must all do our bit to promote British steel and see it used wherever possible, through strong ‘Buy British’ procurement policy.
