As a Government Whip, I rarely have the opportunity to speak in the House of Commons, but last week I had the chance to take a couple of statutory instruments relating to biometrics and the fees regime, within the context of the immigration system, through committee. It was nice to have a rare chance to speak, albeit during proceedings that attracted very little coverage, but which related to what are important measures nonetheless, which should help to improve customer service and security around the issuing of visas and processing immigration applications.
