As I have written about previously, Network Rail has demolished the Leyland Bridge, with no short-term plan to put a temporary structure in its place, leading to inconvenience and great disruption being caused to local residents and businesses. Following my joint letter with Peter Bone MP to him, I followed-up last Thursday, asking the Secretary of State for Transport in the House if he would intervene to make sure that Network Rail urgently reviews this and finds a temporary solution to this pressing problem. The Secretary of State assured me that he is aware of the issue, and he has asked for this matter to be looked at carefully. He further assured me that he does not want improvement works to be done to the disadvantage of local communities.
