Today, I met with John O’Leary, the Headteacher of King John School in Thrapston and Nick Hearne, the Headteacher of Thrapston Primary School, to discuss how the proposed changes to education in East Northamptonshire would affect their respective schools and pupils.
It was good to get a steer from both schools as to their take on what has been proposed and I will continue to listen closely to all views expressed to me, and will keep a close eye on the progress of the consultation – I really do believe that all views need to be heard before NCC make their final decision.
Northamptonshire County Council has recently launched a consultation on the principle of changing the structure of educational provision in Oundle, Thrapston, Kings Cliffe and the surrounding areas of North East Northamptonshire, from a three-tier to a two-tier system. As part of my ‘Listening to Corby and East Northamptonshire Campaign’, I am keen to listen to the views of local people on this issue and ensure that all views are heard.
