I was extremely pleased to hear the news that East Northamptonshire councillors listened last night and threw out the dreadful plans for Fineshade Wood.
During recent months, as part of my Listening to Corby & East Northamptonshire Campaign, a lot of local concerns were raised with me by residents in Fineshade and the surrounding parishes, about the plans to build seventy holiday lodges, in what is undoubtedly open countryside. To my mind, building holiday lodges here would be an utter travesty - it is a beautiful spot and must be preserved.
Particular congratulations go to all those behind the excellent and impassioned local campaign - a model example for all those fighting unwanted development plans! I now hope that the developer will respect the verdict and walk away - local wishes really should be respected.
