Recently, I was informed that Abellio East Midlands (AEM) had successfully been awarded the next East Midlands Railway franchise. This franchise is due to run from August 2019 for 8 years and AEM will introduce new modern trains to the network, providing cleaner, greener, services. I am also informed that passengers will benefit from an 80% increase in the number of peak morning seats into Nottingham, Lincoln and St Pancras, and over £17 million of investment in station facilities. It is particularly welcome that the number of services to and from London are dramatically increasing from an hourly service to a half-hourly service - something I have long campaigned for and really welcome. I look forward to working with AEM in the future and ensuring that my constituents have the very best possible rail service, and in particular continue to explore possibilities around increasing the number of northbound services from Corby - something I know there is local demand for.
