As I have repeatedly said, I believe that the Customs Union is the wrong policy choice for the future success of the UK economy - not least because of the huge benefits of being able to forge our own trading relationships, on our own terms, with the emerging economies of the future, as well as retaining strong European trading links. But also because why would we possibly want foreign governments and the EU to be able to negotiate access to our market with no say over the rules, and with no opposite and equal reciprocal right? It just doesnt make sense. So, I asked the Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union what he thought!
