On the issue of the Leyland Bridge on Irthlingborough Road, I thanked the Secretary of State for Transport for all his efforts in helping sort the problem out, and pushing for the bridge to be rebuilt. I further asked him if he would join us in keeping the pressure up, to ensure that it is done as quickly as possible, as the ongoing inconvenience is unacceptable for local residents and businesses alike. He assured me he would, and explained that the Department continue with the biggest investment programme in the railways for decades and decades, and indeed the biggest investment programme in our roads for decades and decades - an investment programme that will help motorists and rail passengers. The Secretary of State gave a commitment that, as the Government seek to invest in the future of this country, they will do everything they can to minimise the disruption.
