It is imperative that the transition of Northamptonshire County Council, and the various districts and boroughs, to two new unitary councils - one covering the North, and the other covering the West - goes as smoothly as possible. As such, I met with my fellow parliamentary colleagues that represent the county, as well as with leading local councillors, to discuss the tremendous efforts which are being made by everyone in developing the plan for the two new unitary authorities. This was also an opportunity for everyone involved to reconfirm their commitment to doing all we can to assist in the efforts to deliver these on time. This meeting was also a chance to ensure that everyone involved was on the same page in this process, and a discussion was had about how we as MPs could best assist this work. It was a very positive meeting and I will continue to do all I can to help this process, and to ensure that no important issues are left by the wayside - ultimately, we must have the best possible services for county residents, with decisions taken at the most local level possible.
