The other week, I met on Zoom with a regional representative of the Fire Brigades Union to discuss funding for fire and rescue services. As ever, this was a really useful discussion and I came away with good feedback for Ministers, which appears to have already helped to make a difference in terms of our local allocation. The Government is committed to ensuring fire services are well funded and overall, Fire & Rescue Authorities will receive around £2.3 billion in 2020/21. As you would expect, it is also very nice to be able to say ‘thank you’ for everything our brave firefighters do in the line of duty to keep us all safe - a message I relayed on behalf of us all.
