I enjoyed attending an informative drop-in with Guide Dog owners from across the UK regarding their experiences of being turned away by businesses because of their dogs. Not only are these experiences very upsetting, but it is against the law to refuse access to a disabled person accompanied by an assistance dog, except in the most exceptional circumstances. Despite this, research has found that three quarters of assistance dog owners have reported that they have been refused entry by businesses. This is an important issue and one we must increase awareness of.
