During an Urgent Question on the bidding process for the new East Midlands Railway franchise, I asked what benefits the new contract will deliver for rail users in Corby & East Northamptonshire, and sought assurances that the transition from the old contract to the new will be seamless. The Minister assured me that there will be significant benefits. He explained that those benefits will be in the form of new trains and significantly increased capacity, particularly in terms of connectivity into London. He further said that he expects all sides to go through the process with goodwill to ensure that customers are at the centre of their thinking.
