Quite understandably, a number of local people have been in touch with me over the last couple of weeks asking what the Government’s intentions are around Christmas, in the context of Coronavirus. This week, clarity was provided and so I wanted to share all the information relating to that important announcement here. Clearly, the festive period is an important time for many people of all faiths, and none, who come together over the holidays and the Government and the various Devolved Administrations, who have all welcomely worked together on this, recognise that people will want to be with their friends and family over Christmas, particularly after what has been an exceptionally difficult year. For this reason, some of the social contact restrictions will change for a short period of time over the Christmas period between the 23rd and 27th December. Of course, when following these new rules, we must each continue to take personal responsibility to limit the spread of the virus and protect our loved ones, particularly if they are vulnerable. For many, this will mean that it isn’t possible to celebrate Christmas in the way we normally would, and it will no doubt be a bit different, but you can find all the details, here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/making-a-christmas-bubble-with-friends-and-family/making-a-christmas-bubble-with-friends-and-family.
