National Refill Day

It was fantastic to attend a reception held by Water UK to celebrate National Refill Day recently. It is so important that we reduce our use of unrecyclable plastics, including single-use plastic bottles, and this campaign encourages people to carry a reusable water bottle to refill on the go.

Guide Dogs

I enjoyed attending an informative drop-in with Guide Dog owners from across the UK regarding their experiences of being turned away by businesses because of their dogs.

DExEU question on keeping ‘no-deal’ on the table

DExEU question on extending Article 50

I couldn’t be clearer: we must leave the EU by the 31st October 2019 - no ifs, no buts. So, during DExEU Questions, I asked Steve Barclay for an assurance that we will do just that. I was pleased to hear him reaffirm that it is Government policy to leave the EU at the end of October this year.

Unitary Authority Update

I enjoyed meeting with the Leader and Chief Executive of East Northamptonshire Council recently to catch-up on the progress towards transitioning to the new North Northamptonshire Unitary Authority.

Welsh question on the UK steel industry

Youth Employment

As MPs, we all have the responsibility and the opportunity to help make positive changes in the communities we serve, with an important priority area being opportunities for our young people.

Education question on schools funding

Despite the encouraging progress that has been made, I am clear that we must continue to focus on raising standards in our schools, and to do this we need more funding from Central Government, especially in areas that are seeing rapid housing growth such as Corby & East Northamptonshire.

School Visits to Parliament

It was great to have two Corby schools visit Parliament recently, with Our Lady of Walsingham and St Brendan’s Primary Schools coming for tours of the Palace of Westminster.
