Attacks on our emergency services personnel are unacceptably high. With 26,295 reported assaults on the police, 933 on firefighters, 2,600 on paramedics and 948 on nurses working for the NHS, this is something none of us can tolerate and has been an issue I have been working hard on in Parliament, helping to get through a tightening of the law to punish those responsible for these attacks. That is why I am delighted to support the ‘Awesome Movement’, a really exciting project encouraging us all to thank our emergency services and build strong community relationships with them.
