Recently, I convened a meeting between local councillors, key campaigners, and the proposed Kettering Energy Park developer, to discuss the very strong objections that I, and so many local people, have to the plans as they stand, not least during this ongoing period of consultation, more details about which can be found, here: https://ketteringenergypark.co.uk/contact/. During the meeting, I was quite clear that I think the proposed site is completely unsuitable for an industrial estate, and that it would have significant negative impacts on the environment, local traffic, and the character of many of our surrounding rural communities. I have always made the point that, in principle, I know many local people have no real objection to - and in fact rather support - the site delivering greater renewable energy generation, but that the proposals for massive B8 sheds as part of this does not at all fit with what would be acceptable locally - essentially, a massive industrial park in the middle of what is an area of real natural beauty and environmental value. With that in mind, I will continue to work closely with the local communities affected on this matter and do appreciate the time given by all during this meeting. I would also urge everyone locally to make their views known as part of the ongoing consultation process, which closes on the 15th May.
